Mythic Proportions

My eyelash is driving me crazy. My one eyelash. Yes, I only have one, which every day falls out into my eye causing me blurry discomfort. Overnight, the eyelash grows back, only to fall into my eye once more.

Remember Prometheus? The god who was punished for giving fire to humans by having his liver torn out each day, only to have it grow back to be torn out the next? That was my first thought. But let's face it, I'm no Titan.

My second thought was more down to earth. Remember Wooly Willy? Mr. Willy was hairless. You used a magnetic wand to give him hair, a beard, a mustache, whatever you wanted. With no hair on my head, one eyelash, and formerly bushy eyebrows growing more sparse each day, I could use some of that black magic.

In the meantime, I accept my fate.

PJ - Your see of humor through all of this never ceases to amaze me. Hope you get a few more eyelashes sometime soon!

I have an eyelash problem too! About half fell out, then grew back in. Now they do odd things. My lower left lid has half its eyelashes. I never know what to expect.

My fuzzy hair looks like Willy's after you put hair on him.

And does this explain the missing eyebrows that mysteriously start growing out of your chin?

Talking about how the behavior of one hair can cause all kinds of problems..Have you read Chesil Beach by Ian McEwan?!

LOL. Don't go Chia Pet on us, and you should be fine.

I share Ronni's problem. My eyelashes fall out in bundles so that sometimes I have a full set on top, but nothing on the bottom and vice versa. It makes life interesting.

Haven't heard from you in some time. Are you OK? A little note would be appreciated. It doesn't have to be full of humour or perfect in style. Thinking of you. Keep strong, Brenda

Update for followers who are concerned about my sister Patty, I spoke to her on the phone this past weekend, she's still about as weak and nauseous as a couple of weeks ago when I visited in person. She's just has not had the energy to post to her blog, but she's very happy the Yankees have made it to the next round of the baseball playoffs.

Sounds like she is in good spirits! Stay strong.

Thanks for posting, George! That's a relief. Though I wish you had more energy, PJ. Keep going!!! Brenda
